development of animation

joseph plateau was a physicist from belgium. He was the first person to demonstrate the illusion of a moving image. in order to do this he used counter rotating disks with repeating drawn images in small increments of motion on one and regularly spaced slits in the other. Joseph Plateau called this device the phenakistoscope.

Emile Reynaud was a french inventor and was responsible for the first projected animated cartoons. he created the Praxinoscope in 1877. The praxinoscope is an animation device which uses a strip of pictures placed around the inner surface of a spinning cylinder.

edweard mutbridge - speculation raged for years over wether all four hooves of a running hourse left the ground. people believed the did, but the motion was too fast for human eyes to detect. muybridge began experimenting with an array of 12 cameras photographing a galloping horse in a sequence of shots. the first results proved that all four hooves did come off the floor. between 1878 and 1884 muybridge perfected his motion of horses proving that all four hooves come off the floor.

Thomas Edison invented the kinetoscope. The Kinetoscope is an early motion picture exhibition device. The Kinetoscope was designed for films to be viewed by one individual at a time through a peephole viewer window at the top of the device. The Kinetoscope was not a movie projector but introduced the basic approach that would become the standard for all cinematic projection before the advent of video, by creating the illusion of movement by conveying a strip of perforated film bearing sequential images over a light source with a high-speed shutter

The lumiere brothers, French inventors and pioneer manufacturers of photographic equipment who created an early motion picture camera and projector called the cinematographe.

George Pal was born in hungarian and was an american animator and film producer who worked in the science fiction genre he was nominated for loads of academy awards and recieved a honorary award in 1944. This makes him the second most nominated exile.

Willis Harold Obrien was an American motion picture special effects and a stop motion pioneer who managed to produced some of the best known images created in cinema history. In 1950 Willis Harold Obrien won an academy award for best visual effects.

charity research

1) cardiac risk in the young (cry) is a charity to raise awareness that can lead to young sudden cardiac death. this would be a good charity to make a animation for because cry is aimed at the younger population which means the animation would appeal to them.

2) The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a no profit organization founded in the United States that arranges experiences (described as "wishes") to children with life-threatening medical conditions. In order to qualify for a wish, the child must be between the ages of 2 and a half and 18 at the time of referral. It is the child's physician that ultimately decides if a child is eligible.

3)BBC children in need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £600 million to change the lives of disabled children and young people in the UK. One of the highlights is an annual telethon, held in November and televised on BBC One and BBC One HD. stop motion animation would be suitable for children in need because the charity is aimed at children and stop motion animation appeals to children. Also there is a lot of things we could do using pudsy bear as we can make him out of clay and do a lot of stuff with him.

4)

The save the children fund commonly known as save the children is an international non governmental organization that promotes children's rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries. It was created in the united kingdom in 1919  to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities

5) The NSPCC ( the national society for the prevention of cruelty to children) is a charity that campaign and work in child protection. The NSPCC focus on seven key themes : neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, children under one, children with disabilities, children from black and ethnic minority and looked after children.

chosen charity

after looking at all of these charities i have decided to choose the make a wish charity. i have chosen this charity because the charity is a really good cause and there is a lot of things i am to do to with this charity to create a good stop motion advert that will appeal to the target audience.

make a wish Fairy advert

This TV advert for make a wish shows a young boy who suffers from i life threatening illness. The young boys wish was to be a movie director for a day and the advert shows this happening and his wish coming true. This tv advert gives a positive message to the viewers because it shows the young boy who has been through a lot and who is very ill having the time of his life as his wish to become a movie director has come true. The advert also shows that the make a wish foundation is a really good charity that helps children with terminal illnesses have the time of their life. The advert is aimed towards all age groups. This is because anyone from the age 18 and up can donate to the charity, but also it really appeals to the younger generation because of all the dinosaurs and lasers. This is good because it will encourage children to fundraise money for the make a wish foundation. The technique used to make this tv advert was film. This television advert is very effective because it really shows that the charity does good and changes peoples life which will make the public want to donate to the charity.

Client Feedback

CLIENT MEETING RECORD SHEET

Items Discussed:

the class discussed with us the problem and good things with our ident and some things we could improve on if we were to do it again

problems

  • the ident need to be more fluent
  • the transaction between each frame needs to be slowed down and more carefully moved when taking the pictures for the footage
  • the ident logo could have been more clear at the end of your ident
  • make it less random

good things

  • has a good theme
  • well done for the time done in
  • has got things that others weren't able to do
  • more advanced than others
  • well made set

things to improve on

  • the transaction between frame
  • logo could be more clear

29) expansion of concept to suite

31) revised proposal and planning

old logo                                                                                         new logo

we change our ident so it looked like a profesial logo and the extra bubbles this is to represent the other series of ident and the links of all the different kinds of programs they show but the logo had to be still able to go into our ident and the expansion of our ident. this logo had to fit with the bbc one theme of the circle logo but had to be different and still look like its from BBC one
as you can see from this snap shot we used this logo in out final ident and made it so it came out of the sun, this is to symbolise that bbc one can brighten up your day and this theme we have carried out though the expansion of concept suite and then this can be made in to a series by using natural hazard to represent peoples every day problems and then using the idea that bbc one can bright up your day it the sun coming out and everything gets fixed.

35) annotated drafts

i firstly added my stop motion animation which i had edit on stop motion to make it a movie without the effects  and put into after effect and then in after effects we ended up cutting the bits out we didn't need
after getting our ident to the desired length we went on to chose our effects and audio which were pre recorded on the after effects
then we had to add the effects over the top of our stop motion film using the different layers on after effect we could change certain effects at once instead of change them all at the same time like on photoshop where you have layers
we then added effect to the how movie to make it darker at the beginning of it and get lighter and lighter though the ident to dive more effect and make look more realistic as when it rains its darker than when its sunny.

36) Self assessment of powerpoint and client

i think we met our cleat specification as what we describe we were going to do to we did and the cleat feed back shows that it does refer to out corporate ident theory as we did use the circle theme still in out logo. we also had to think about the target audience which was a very wide age gape about 10 to 60 as the shows on bbc one are mostly family show and i do think our ident also is family friendly which BBC one programmes are normally so it is perfect for the mid day. the thing i would improve on my are simple things like the transaction between frame i think that this would make the ident look more professional to the viewers as it would look smoother. we also looked at other ident from different channels to see what they do like E4 a fun and random as there target audience are 13 to 30 and that what there programmes are aimed at as well we also learnt from researching other idents techniques and got to see how they link there ident together for example channel 4 all there ident include the 4 in a different place going together like a puzzle when the camera moves around we have used some of this in our expansion of concept as it include different places but the same filming idea like channel 4

5) annotated research x8

1. this is a screen shot of the bbc one ident history page on there website it shows how the logo has change though years but still kept the circler theme and this is what we have tried to incorporate into the design of our bbc one logo and it also shows us the colours that they have gone though when technology was changing

2. we tried to look for a style guide to help us with designing our new bbc one logo as we could not find one we ended up figuring it out our self by looking at the different logos and ident to look at how they represent bbc. by analysing the logo we were able to get an understanding of what the logo should include such as it should include circles and the bbc one logo and should also include the colour theme which is red

3. we then went on to look at there website and to see what kind of shows and programmes they show at what they show at certain times, sometimes this means that the idents in the morning would be different to the ones at midday and that them idents would be different to the ones in the evening

4. we then made a survey to find out the viewers views on what they like and dislike about the bbc one logo and ident at the moment and if they would change anything like the atheistic of the idents and logo this helped us to design our logo to the viewers needs

5.we then looked at different idents from different channels on youtube and showed us how the idents change to wether the programmes they are showing is for a suitable audience such as if it was a kids programme that was on there would have been an ident targeted at children

6. we then looked at what makes a good
ident and got some good information on
it as it gave us a good understanding
of what people want are looking for in a
 ident for a channel
